Elion Partners accepts award for General Mills 1.5M SF Distribution Center at NAIOP Chicago’s Awards for Excellence
Elion Partners announced that it was recognized at the NAIOP Commercial Real Estate Development Association’s Annual Awards for Excellence on November 16 in Chicago. RidgePort Logistics Center was awarded with “Industrial Build-to-Suit of the Year” in recognition of the 1.5 million-square-foot distribution center developed for General Mills.
Elion Partners delivered the 1.5 million-square-foot building to General Mills during a ribbon cutting with elected officials last week, including Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner, Senator Sue Rezin, Senator Marty Sandoval, Secretary of Transportation Randy Blankenhorn, State Representative David Welter and City of Wilmington Mayor Roy Strong. Currently the largest planned rail-served industrial park in the Chicago market, RidgePort Logistics Center is focused on incorporating mixed-use transportation services within the park.
“We are pleased to accept the award for NAIOP’s Industrial Build-to-Suit of the Year,” said Shlomo Khoudari, managing principal at Elion Partners, owners of RidgePort Logistics Center. “This award further solidifies a milestone in delivering a development focused not only on infrastructure and location, but on servicing to the trucking profession through its mixed-use amenities.”
The new General Mills distribution center is located 40 miles southwest of Chicago near major transportation channels including Class 1 rails such as the BNSF, and interstates 80 and 55. The entire RidgePort Logistics Center is more than 30 million SF of potential space, 5.4 million SF of developed space, and 810,000 SF currently in the works.
The distribution center for General Mills features 36′ clear ceiling heights, 151 dock doors, 316 car parking spaces, 549 truck stalls and is anticipated to be LEED Silver certified.
